Hi, yesterday i got my new PC. It has asus z87 gryphon UEFI BIOS ver 1707. I was assembled and tested before delivered to me.
Original title: windows 7 bootmgr is missing HELP!!!!! I have a sony vaio laptop with no partitions no nothing just a hard disk with pre-installed windows 7 64 bit home premium.
A test OS was installed for the tests and then removed before i got it. I purchased this win 7 version: its a dell OEM win 7 64 bit. Now i couldnt install it, i only got to the 'expand windows files' step and then it aborts with the error code.
0x80070017 indicating that the dvd is corrupted. The dvd looks like it has scratches and was used before. But i have the key which should be enough to activate and register windows 7. After that i tried to make an image of the dvd on my laptop with Ultraiso but i got stuck and always frozen at 75%. So i tried to install a ISO image file from digital river.
I was able to install a windows 7 32bit version on my new PC with a USB boot. I used the windows 7 usb/dvd tool, but now when i try to do the same with a win 7 64bit the tool says 'invalid ISO file'. I found all sorts of things about how i cant make a usb boot for a 64bit OS form a 32bit OS. And also is i have a UEFI bios it seems i need to consider a few things extra with that kind of bios. Can someone please give me a step by step guide what to do.
I want to install windows 7 64bit professional on my new PC. And like i said my purchased OEM dvd seems to be damaged BUT i have the key to activate it by phone.
To wrap it up: new PC has currently: windows 7 32bit professional. Usb stick 8GB (which i used to install win7 32bit).

Using the Windows disc, it doesn't find the installation when you put the disc in and choose repair. Used the cmd prompt to do the following. Changed to C: then, bootrec /FixMbr - said successful bootrec /FixBoot - said successful bootrec. General Discussion I compressed my entire C drive. When I rebooted I got the error 'Bootmgr is compressed' I don't have a optical drive, so I made a bootable USB drive using YUMI 0.2.3 and added the windows 7 recovery ISO. The USB drive boots and I can enter the recovery console, etc. It couldn't auto-repair.
General Discussion my hard drive has to partitions one is recovery. Basically i was trying to make the recovery partition visible in my computer. And i made it the active partition by mistake. So all the os and booting data is on the other partition. Is there any way i can change the active partition without a disk. Installation & Setup My gateway nv53 crashed 1week ago. I tried to recover from os installed from factory 4 times and comp would work allday great.
Upon restarting a second time the system would go down again. I decided to do a complete reinstall with the recovery discs. Unfortunitly it wiped my harddrive clean. Hardware & Devices hey i had vista ultimate i got formated as i was installing windows 7. An error occured sayin some file was missin or corrupt. Now i hav no OS n my laptop wont start.
Now when i put vista or windows 7 dvd it says bootmgr is missing. How do i fix this problem and install an OS. Installation & Setup Our Sites Site Links About Us Find Us • • • • • • •.
